depending on how old it was, it needs the heat, not just something that blocks the wind or what not. when we were kids, we brought our chicks in the house with a heat lamp until they were old enough to go out side. so next time if you get another one, put a heat lamp on them. sometimes they just die to, we had some that would drown themselves when they drank, turkeys are famous for doing that, but sometimes they just don't make it to be a grown chicken, don't beat yourself up over it. and if you get one, then just get two instead, they can warm each other.
