Why didn't China's First Lady accompany President Hu Jintao on his American visit...is it too dangerous?

Maybe he is not married. She is not called a First Lady, which is a stupid term anyway. The Pres would be called First Gentleman. He is called Chairman Hu in China, not President. The culture probably does not require the wife accompany her husband, and hold hands like the silly Americans and English do.
